22 additions from my instructor's "have read" pile into my "to read" pile. Looking forward to finding out more ideas about leadership and teaching and integrating the two.
This book reinforces the value of "corner-four" relationships and demonstrates the incredible impact that others have in our lives.

This book is full of solid advice on becoming a more effective leader; leader's goals should be to create more leaders. Some quotes from this book that I enjoyed are: "If you want someone on your side, don't try to convince him - connect with him." "What does it mean to 'connect with yourself?' It means knowing and liking who you are." "...the two kinds of people on earth I mean, are the people who lift and the people who lean." "Not all the books on all the shelves, it's what the teachers are themselves." "Quitting is unthinkable." "Praise effort but reward accomplishments." "Are you passionate about the vision?" "Law 13: The Law of the Picture: People do what people see." "Law 17: The Law of Priorities: Leaders understand that activity is not necessarily accomplishment."

Joyful Literacy Interventions Part One by Janet Nadine Mort. PhD: Aimed at the primary grade level, but still loaded with powerful ideas for literacy interventions for older students, this book provided several strategies for helping struggling learners reach their potential. Mort outlines multiple strategies for leading students in the kindergarten level to reach literacy goals by the end of grade two. She introduces and supports the use of circle charts to keep track of individual student progress. This tracking tool can be applied across the grade levels in many different forms as well.
